HIS CHURCH SCHOOL
HIS CHURCH SCHOOL encourages all students to participate in school sports as it not only promotes essential values such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, resilience, sportsmanship, physical fitness, time management, and respect for authority, but also instils Biblical values such as compassion, humility, integrity, and stewardship. Integrating these values into sports activities fosters the holistic development of students’ character, guiding them to adopt Biblical values, both on and off the sport field.
AFFILIATIONS:
HIS CHURCH SCHOOL is associated with the Southern African Christian Schools Sports Association(SACSSA) and the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Schools Sports Association (KZNCSSA). His Church School falls under the North Durban Zone of the KZNCSSA.
SPORTS OFFERED:
TERM 1:
Swimming
Swimming: Swimming is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 19. Swimming events offer various disciplines such as freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and individual medley. Swimmers have the opportunity to qualify for participation at three levels: Zonal Level, where they will represent His Church School at the North Durban Christian Schools Zonal Gala; there after, swimmers can qualify for the Provincial Level, where they will represent His Church School and the North Durban Zone at the KZNCSSA Provincial Swimming Gala. Lastly, they have the chance to qualify for the National Level, where swimmers will represent His Church School, the North Durban Zone, and KZNCSSA at the SACSSA Swimming Gala.
Mini Cricket
Mini Cricket is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 9. Two teams are selected (under8) and (under 10) to participate in the KZNCSSA Mini Cricket Festival. Cricket: Cricket is open to boys between the ages of 10 and 19. They have the opportunity to participate in the KZNCSSA Provincial Cricket Festival, an individual-based trial that provides young cricketers the prospect of being selected for the KZNCSSA Teams.
TERM 2
Winter Sports:
Mini Soccer:
Mini Soccer is open for participation by boys and girls under the age of 9. A team from His Church School will be selected and have the opportunity to participate in the Under 9 KZNCSSA Provincial Winter Sports.
Mini Netball:
Mini Netball is open to girls under the age of 9. A team from His Church School will be selected and have the opportunity to participate in the Under 9 KZNCSSA Provincial Winter Sports.
Netball:
Girls between the ages of 10 and 19, if selected for the His Church School teams, will have the opportunity to take part in the KZNCSSA Provincial Winter Sports.
Soccer:
Boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 19 will have separate teams and, if selected for the His Church School teams, will have the opportunity to take part in the KZNCSSA Provincial Winter Sports.
Cross Country:
Cross Country will be held for age groups Under 6 to Under 19. Runners are able to qualify to participate at three levels: Zonal level, where athletes will represent His Church School at the North Durban Christian Schools Zonal Cross Country; thereafter, runners can qualify for the Provincial level, where they will represent His Church School and the North Durban Zone at the KZN CSSA Provincial Cross Country. Lastly, athletes have the opportunity to qualify for the National Level, where they will represent His Church School, the North Durban Zone, and KZNCSSA at the SACSSA National Cross Country.
TERM 3
Athletics:
The 3rd Term is dedicated to athletics, specifically track and field disciplines, which include but are not limited to sprints, relays, long jump, high jump, shot put, javelin, and discus. Age groups participating in these events often range from primary school (under 7) to high school (under 19).Athletes are able to qualify to participate at three levels: Zonal level, where they will represent His Church School at the North Durban Christian Schools Zonal Athletics; thereafter, athletes can qualify for the Provincial level, where they will represent His Church School and the North Durban Zone at the KZNCSSA Provincial Athletics. Lastly, athletes have the opportunity to qualify for the National Level, where they will represent His Church School, the North Durban Zone, and KZNCSSA at the SACSSA National Athletics.
TERM 4
Chess:
Chess is one of the sports offered throughout the year, with multiple online chess events held during the course of the year. Contestants will also have the opportunity to participate in the KZN CSSA Provincial Chess Event, where they can qualify for the SACSSA National Chess Event. Table Tennis: Table Tennis is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 19. Athletes have the opportunity to participate in the KZNCSSA Provincial Table Tennis, an individual-based trial that provides the prospect of being selected for the KZNCSSA Team.
